Welcome Owen Joseph

He's here! Our baby boy, Owen Joseph Wilmarth Tyna, was born on Thursday, November 8th at 8:07 am. He weighed 9 lbs, 2 oz. and was a strapping 21 inches long. The scheduled c-section went smoothly and all are doing well.

Our time at the hospital - Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, to be exact - was pretty smooth. After the delivery, we all went into the recovery room for awhile to await my spinal wearing off. After I could move my feet again, we were moved to our postpartum room, where we stayed for about 4 days. It was a long stay! Owen was very alert and basically came out with lips a smackin' and ready for some breakfast!

We had our first visitors within 2 hours of Owen's birthday. My Dad and Betty, along with my Mom and Julia all came to meet our new family member. Everyone was really excited - especially Julia, who didn't care all that much about the new brother she had, but she LOVED the toys that seemed to accompany him! She was a bit inquisitive and then focused on the toys while everyone else checked out all of Owen's fingers and toes.

Mom and Jules came back for another visit on Friday and Julia was FAR more excited. My Mom, who stayed with her at our house, said that Jules had told her she missed her mommy, daddy, and brother. How cute! Julia held Owen and kept saying "oh, he's so cute!" I love that kid :)

We got back home on Sunday, November 11th. My Mom, Randy, and Jules had hung some welcome banners and greeted us and, shortly after their departure, Dan, Joe's dad, came to help for a few days. It was a nice homecoming. Afterwards, we set to unpacking our stash of clothes and gifts from the hospital and figuring out how this new little guy would fit into our lives. It has been a wonderful and exhausting time! We're so glad to have our two babies - though one will tell you right away that she is NOT a baby.

Here are a few more of Owen's baby pictures. Check back soon for more photos from the hospital and our first days at home!
