Fall Kids Update

It has been awhile since I shared about our kids, so I thought I'd take a bit of time to tell you what they're up to these days. Let me simply start by saying that they're both great!

Julia Renee
Julia started kindergarten in August and is really doing well. She has come home often with songs about letters of the alphabet (i.e., Elmo the Elephant) or little books that she has learned to read. It's such an exciting time and it's really fun watching her learn!

She's a bit emotional these days, so we never really know if we're going to have our cheerful girl or a total grump, but we're making our way through 5-year-old-hood ;)

These days, Jules has lots of favorites:
  • Color - blue
  • Make believe friend - fairies
  • Treat - ice cream
  • Play - dressing up
  • Family thing to do - go to the grocery store (I'm guessing that this is because we shop at Mariano's and often buy their mini gelato when we go!)
  • Movie - Turbo
This summer, we invested in a tag along bike for Jules, since she still isn't comfortable riding a bike on her own. That was lots of fun. And this Halloween, she'll be dressing up as Turbo the snail. Send us some good energy that we can actually make the costume stand up to her champagne taste. They don't seem to sell Turbo costumes anywhere, except on Etsy for $100, so we're making it from scratch. It should be a really fun Halloween!

Owen Joseph
Owen is quite the little fella. He is a sweet, cuddly boy and he's definitely keeping us all entertained at our house. He is learning how to talk SO much, which means we have lots of giggles listening to him. He says things like "Gickey" when he's talking about Mickey Mouse and he's totally into all things transportation these days. He refers to most things with "a" before them, so he will want "a up" or "a gilk" (milk).

Owen has lots of favorites:
  • Foods - bacon (he calls it a-gaken) and bananas
  • Toys - all things transportation (i.e., cars, trucks, airplanes, trains) and especially his Matchbox school bus
  • Super hero - Spiderman (he can't seem to get enough of "mida-man" and he'll be dressed up like him for Halloween)
  • Song - "Happy" by Pharrell Williams (he likes to sing "a happy, happy")
  • Dislikes - getting his hair cut, as he demonstrated by SOBBING the entire time we tried to cut it last
It's hard to believe that our little guy will be two years old in just a few weeks. Where has the time gone?! I swear he was just a little baby about 5 minutes ago.

Hope fall is treating you and yours well!
