In September, my grandpa, Delbert Supler, turned 99 years young. Can you believe it? He has seen just about everything and is still going strong.
To celebrate, my mom and aunt hosted an open house for friends and family. We celebrated with cake and Grandpa had dozens of well-wishers visit. I think he enjoyed the day.
Though he has been slowing down, Grandpa Supler is pretty sharp and recently decided that it would be better for him to live in a place with a bit more assistance. He moved out of his apartment and into a place where he doesn't have to worry about cooking his own meals. The staff are even helping him set up a new Wii bowling league, though I doubt he'll have much competition. He is a regular at bowling the perfect game! Since he moved in on November 1st, Grandpa has already gained 5 pounds and is enjoying his new home.
Let's hope that each of us can enjoy the relatively good health and alertness of my Grandpa at just shy of 100 years old!
