Grandma Wilmarth's 80th Birthday

It has been so busy lately, I still haven't had the time to update our blog on some of what has been happening around here. A few weeks ago, we celebrated my Grandma Wilmarth's 80th birthday! Although her actual big day wasn't until November 14th, we got 50+ people together at a restaurant to celebrate her life and her wonderful accomplishments on November 1st.

In case you haven't met my Grandma before, she is a pretty phenomenal woman. Aside from have NINE children, she has made lots of wonderful contributions to her community. For many years, she was in charge of the local food pantry in Byron, IL and she has worked (and continues to help) with the Salvation Army in a variety of ways. She is well-known for all of her efforts and was even honored as a nominee for one of the prestigious Jefferson Awards, which are awarded nationally for community contributions. She got to attend a fancy shmancy awards ceremony in Washington, DC for it a few years back. Grandma was also invited to be an Olympic torch bearer during the flame's trek across the US during the 1996 Atlanta games. It was quite a thrill for all of us!

Needless to say, her birthday was certainly one worth celebrating! Click the link to see photos:
