Crazy Mad Skills
Miss Julia is really working on her skills these days! She is eating pretty independently, including trying out her fork and spoon every once in awhile. To use her fork, Joe or I will stab the food and then set it on her tray. She will put it up to her mouth, grabs the food, and then promptly drops the fork on the floor. She still hasn't quite figured out the benefit of simply handing the fork back to us, so we do a whole lot of bending over to fish it out of the hard-to-reach corners near her high chair.
Other than her eating skills, Julia also recently waved "buh buh" to Daddy on his way out the door. How cool is that?! She has become quite good at it. We've also realized that she says "hi." Retrospectively, I'd say that "hi" is her official first word, but we just hadn't figured it out at the time. There are no other words to date, but I swear she is trying to say "Raffy" when she plays with my giraffe! She'll always repeat something that starts with an "R" sound when she holds him ;)
And finally, no update on her new skills would be complete without a re-telling of an exciting rendezvous with the stairs. A few days ago, Joe and I were cleaning up Julia's dinner and getting ready for our own. We were together in the kitchen for about a minute and simultaneously realized that it was a little too quiet in the living room. We looked out to see Julia two steps up on our staircase. Looks like we've got an exciting new safety issue in our house!
